This year’s World Expo in Osaka is showcasing a breadth of creativity, including the Indonesian Pavilion which leverages an extensive remit of technology provided by Jakarta-based AV company, Argo Visual. The pavilion takes visitors on a rich cultural journey of the region through immersive audiovisual storytelling, brought to life with technology from Barco, Brompton, Disguise, d&b audiotechnik, Eastern Acoustic Works (EAW), INFiLED, LG, Meyer Sound and RCF.
Held in Kansai, Japan, the Expo 2025 Osaka opened last month, centred around the theme: Designing Future Society for Our Lives. In keeping with this theme, the creative vision for the Indonesian pavilion was based on looking at the potential future of Indonesia as though it is a hidden gem.
With this objective in mind, Argo Visual was engaged by the main contractor for the Indonesian Pavilion, Samudra Dyan Praga, to provide the AV system for the project. The experience begins in the waiting line, where visitors are immersed in Indonesian culture with an audio system from Meyer Sound featuring MM4XP loudspeakers.
Barco technology plays a key role in the visual experience, with 24 UDM-4K30 projectors deployed across the pavilion, including in the immersive room which showcases the country’s demographic, geography and culture. The units are also incorporated to power visuals of the city plan for Indonesia’s New Capital City named Nusantara.
Lastly, the restaurant area has been outfitted with 6m2 of INFiLED P1.9mm displays and LG 75-inch UH5J-H digital signage. The visual spectacle is powered by two sets of Brompton Technology SX40 LED processors and driven by seven Disguise 4x4pro media servers.
Albert Lawrence Lawadi, Argo Visual’s senior project manager, commented: “The set up schedule for the Indonesian Pavilion was challenging for the Argo Visual team; we wanted to pay close attention to the project’s intricate details – particularly for the projection mapping elements. Our aim was not only for the visitor to see the multimedia solution that we provided, but to also enjoy and feel the powerful experience created at the Indonesian Pavilion.
